GAUGE:

16 single crochet + 16 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

This pattern uses yarn that is dyed with turmeric (a spice). Click here for this and other dye recipe made from edible items from the grocery store.

Crochet Sunshine Stripes Cellphone Holder Reviewed by Kala Hannay on 2013-02-11 *****
I made this with a varigated yarn and put a long strap on it to hang around my neck so I can wear it at home while recovering from surgery and chemo. My aunt liked it so much she wants one for herself in the nursing home. I like this pattern because it is on the bias and doesn't stretch out
