GAUGE:
6.6 sc and 8 rows = 4" (10 cm) on size N-13 (9 mm) hook BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
The ribbed appearance and stretch comes from crocheting into the back loop of each stitch.
HAT Chain 6 and close into a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain. Place marker for beg
of round.
Rnd 1: Chain 1, work 6 sc in ring, join with slip stitch to beginning chain.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each single crochet around -12 stitches. Rnd 3: 1 single crochet in next single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single
crochet; repeat to marker - 18 stitches. Rnd 4: 1 single crochet in each of next 2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next
single crochet; repeat to marker - 24 stitches. Rnd 5: 1 single crochet in each of next 3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next
single crochet; to marker - 30 stitches.
Adult women only: Rnd 6: *1 single crochet in each of next 5 single crochet, 2
single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from * around - 35 stitches.
Adult men only: Rnd 6: *1 single crochet in each of next 4 single crochet,
2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from * around - 36 stitches.
Work even in single crochet until 6.5 (7.5, 8.5) inches from center of crown. Fasten off;
weave in ends.

I made this in gold and it is very rich looking. Wish the pattern was in a different color. Can wear on either side. Also am make tiny ones with a "H" and "G" for babies that don't make it, with regular 4ply yarn. Sorry I have no images to send.
