GAUGE:
16 sts + 24 rows in pattern = 4 inches [10 cm] on size 8 [5 mm] needles BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
This blanket uses the pretty 'purl ridges' stitch pattern.
DOLL AFGHAN Cast on 25 (55, 80)stitches. Rows 1-4: Knit Row 5: Knit 3, purl until there are three stitches remaining, knit 3 stitches. Row 6: Knit 3. Then purl 1, knit 1 until there are three stitches remaining, knit 3. Row 7: Knit 3, purl until there are three stitches remaining, knit 3 stitches. Row 8: Knit.
Repeat rows 5-8 8 (16, 24) times or until length is appropriate for the doll.
Next 4 rows: Knit. Bind off all stitches, weave in ends.
Using the crochet hook, draw a single (single, double) strand of yarn through each stitch
at the end of the blanket and knot it for fringe. Trim to a length that is in scale with
the blanket (for the small version, we trimmed to roughly ½ inch [1 cm]). If needed, use a steam iron set to low temperature to block blanket into shape.

It was easy to knit. The only thing I had troubles with was the fringe.
The pattern is really cute. I used purple yarn.
