GAUGE: 8 sts + 16 rows = 4" (10 cm) on size 11 (8 mm) needles with B BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

EAR-WARMER
With 2 strands of A, cast on 40 sts.
Rows 1-6: Knit
Rows 7-12: Change to B. Knit 1, purl 1 repeat to end of row
Rows 13-18: Change to 2 strands of A. Knit.
Bind off, weave in ends. Thread large-eyed blunt needle with (B) and sew ends
together |

Great beginner project! Instant gratification. Made one in white on white. My 3.5 year old granddaughter will look like a snow princess.
The pattern I think is a little off but it really doesnot matter. Why would you have one side (edge) knit in 6 rows of K and the other edge 5 rows? I just evened it up because it was obviously different.
