GAUGE:

Please see PDF for gauge information. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Quilt-Look Afghan Reviewed by Mildred Patience on 2010-08-06 *****
Great pattern, with the exception of an obvious error in the border instructions. The instructions read to inc. 1 st. before and after each inc. marker. However, the diagram for placing the circles together indicates that only the 2 corner inc. markers should be inc. before and after the inc. marker. Doing so across the straight edge of the top, bottom and sides increases the stitches from 16 to 32 across the straight edge of the circle, when they should be kept to 16 per the diagram (This creates a ripple effect, rather than lay flat.)The top sides and botton should only have increases to replace the decreases, with no increase along the straight edge.
Also, I found that when knitting the squares, if you increase the number of sts to 18 and the number of rows to 18 with the 18th row a plain knit.(binding off in the 18th row; you can eliminate the crocheted edge and the squares are easier to sew into the afghan. By increasing the number of stitches to 18, you must change rows 2 and 4 to begin with 2k sts and 3k sts respectively. ending with 2k sts. and 1k sts.respectively. It was a fun afghan to knit. Hope this comment has been helpful.
