GAUGE:
16 sts + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. Cardigan is knit in one piece, from cuff to cuff.
2. Crochet hook is used for single crochet trim around neck edge. If desired, you may embroider Blanket st around neck edge instead of working crochet trim.

Great, simple pattern with surprisingly good results- I was a little concerned that the crown could look a little boxy or creased given the quick decrease (and given the pattern photo where there does seem to be some creasing), but it actually ended up with quite a smooth finish and the circular pattern at the top was very pretty. I made the hat in a plain cream wool I had leftover from a baby blanket and added a little knitted flower to the side. Now I'm looking forward to trying the cardigan pattern!
