GAUGE:

16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows as if knitting with straight needles.

BLANKIE
Cast on 5 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K3, yo, k2 - 6 sts.
Row 3: K3, yo, k3 - 7 sts.
Row 4: K3, yo, k to end of row.
Repeat Row 4 until you have 108 sts.
Next (decrease) row: K2, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k to end of row.

Sunny Diagonal Blankie Reviewed by B Watkins on 2011-02-22 *****
I love this blanket!! You can adapt it to any yarn and any size needles. As written, this is a simple pattern that makes a beautiful petite blanket with a built-in finished edge. It is the perfect size for premature infants and newborns and works well as a car seat or stroller blanket or even to toss over mom's shoulder for privacy as baby nurses! Toddlers will love it as a snuggle blanket and they can use it later for their dolls!
