GAUGE:
15 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Pattern is designed to encourage creativity with freeform embroidered straight sts.
SCARF
With A, cast on 45 sts. Divide sts onto 3 double pointed needles and join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures about 42 in. (106.5 cm) from beg.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Flatten Scarf to form a 6 x 42 in. (15 x 106.5 cm) rectangle. Seam each end of Scarf closed.
With B and working through both layers, embroider straight sts onto Scarf. To make even rows of straight sts, follow columns of knit sts.
Weave in ends.
