Simple Crochet Shrug
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 8 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Large hook is used to create an open fabric that will easily stretch to fit a range of sizes.

SHRUG
Ch 85.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 84 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 38 in. (96.5 cm) from beginning.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half to measure 21 x 38 in. (53.5 x 96.5 cm).
Place markers on each of the 21 in. (53.5 cm) sides, 7 in. (18 cm) below fold for armholes. Seam sides from markers down to lower edge.
Weave in ends. |

I love this pattern and I have made 7 of these so far and get many compliments on the 3 shrugs that I've kept for myself and wear almost constantly year-round(2 in Homespun / 1 in Color Waves which is discontinued.)
The other 4 shrugs were gifts in Homespun. My girlfriends just love them. The homespun yarn works up easy with simple single crochet; watch your gage and count your stitches.
