Fortuna Scarf

GAUGE:

11 sts + 6 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Ends of Scarf will not match exactly. The beg end of Scarf (at Row 1) will have a straight, ch edge. Then opposite end of Scarf will have a scalloped edge.

Ch 26.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sk next ch, * sc in next ch, ch 5, sk next 3 chs, sc in next ch, ch 3, sk next 3 chs; rep from * once more, sc in next ch, ch 5, sk next 3 chs, sc in next ch, ch 1, sk next ch, sc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in next sc, * 11 dc in next ch-5 lp, sc in center ch of ch-3 lp; rep from * across to last sc, sc in last sc.
Row 3: Ch 6, turn, sk next 3 dc, * sc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 5, sk next 6 dc; rep from * across to last 4 sts, ch 2, sk next 3 dc, tr in last sc.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn, 5 dc in ch-2 sp, * sc through center ch of ch-3 lp into center dc of 11-dc group, 11 dc in next ch-5 lp; rep from * across to last ch-lp, 6 dc in last ch-lp.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc, * ch 5, sk next 6 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, sc in next dc; rep from * across to last 3 sts, sc in next dc, ch 1 sk next dc, sc in top of ch-3.

Rep Rows 3-6 until piece measures about 140 in. (355.5 cm) from beg, end with a Row 4 or 6. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

If you want the scarf to look the same on both ends, just continue the pattern using the beginning free chain, and work both sides until they are as long as you want it. I used only one 7 ounce ball, pulling yarn from both ends and it is plenty long to wrap around my neck. Love this pattern!
