Foyle's Cabled Leg Warmers

Lion Brand« Vanna's Choice®

GAUGE:

21 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Cable pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

2RT (Right Twist): Knit into second stitch on left hand needle, but do not slip this st from left hand needle, then knit into first stitch on left hand needle, and slip both stitches off left needle.
2/2RC (2 over 2 right cross): Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to back of work, k next 2 sts from left hand needle, then k the 2 sts from the cable needle.

PATTERN STITCHES
K1, p1 Rib (worked in the rnd)
Rnd 1:
*K1, p1; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K1, p1 Rib.

Cable Pattern
Rnds 1 and 3 :
*P2, 2RT, p2, k4; rep from * around.
Rnds 2 and 4: *P2, k2, p2, k4; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *P2, 2RT, p2, 2/2RC; rep from * around.
Rnd 6: *P2, k2, p2, k4; rep from * around.
Rep Rnds 1-6 for Cable pattern.

LEG WARMER (make 2)
Cast on 60 sts. Divide sts evenly on to 4 double pointed needles. Place marker for beg of rnd. Being careful not to twist sts, join by working first st on left hand needle with working yarn from right hand needle.
Work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 in. (2.5 cm).
Change to Cable pattern and work until piece measures about 11 1/2 in. (29.5 cm) from beg, end with a Row 6.
Work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 in. (2.5 cm). Bind off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

Foyle's Cabled Leg Warmers Reviewed by Karen Humeston on 2014-03-17 *****
The cable pattern works up quickly, so I was able to make a pair in a weekend. I did use a size 7 needle for the K1,P1 ribbing. The overall pattern has some stretch, so the leg warmers have a nice fit. I would definitely make this pattern again.
