GAUGE:

12 stitches + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in half double crochet, with 2 strands of yarn held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SQUARES (make 4 in each color)
With two strands of yarn held together, chain 20.
Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across – 19 stitches.
Rows 2-12: Chain 2, turn, half double crochet in each half double crochet across.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Following diagram, sew Squares together. Weave in ends.

Baby Blocks Afghan Reviewed by Catherine Hutcherson on 2012-08-23 *****
I made this for my niece, I changed the colors and made it a little bigger because she's 3 and I want her to grow into it. It was really easy to make, I think it took me longer to sew it together but I wanted to make sure everything lined up and she couldn't tear it up!
