11 dc = 4 in. (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
COWL Ch 46. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), turn. Working in front loops only, dc in each st across. Row 3: Ch 3, turn. Love this pattern! Made a full length version for my mom & it's her fave. I had a spare ball of lavender and it completed 36 rows with enough to sew the ends together. It is my daughter's all-time favorite cowl. I had to make 4 more for her 3 BFF's and her boyfriend. I love how quick they are to make!
