Electra Leg Warmers
Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®
GAUGE: 18 sts + 24 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) in Moss st. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This is the best leg warmer pattern I've found for a beginner. Everything else involves cables and I'm just not to that level yet. I agree with the previous commenter that the stitch pattern is a little boring, but if you use some fun yarn, like Vanna's Glamour, these become far more interesting.
This pattern, in a smaller gauge and with the addition of a thumbhole, can also be easily adapted to a nice wrist warmer.
