GAUGE:

16 sts + 19 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) with larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop – 1 st increased.

PATTERN STITCH
K2, p2 Rib (worked in the rnd, over a multiple of 4 sts)
Rnd 1:
*K2, p2, rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd.

GLOVE (make 2)
With smaller needles, cast on 32 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Work in K2, p2 Rib for 3 in. (7.5 cm).
Change to larger needles and work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures about 10 in. (25.5 cm) from beg.
Increase section for Hand
Rnd 1 (Inc):
M1, k6, M1, k to end of rnd – 34 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnds 2-4: Knit.
Rnd 5 (Inc): M1, k8, M1, k to end of rnd – 36 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnds 6-8: Knit.
Rnd 9 (Inc): M1, k10, M1, k to end of rnd – 38 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnds 10-12: Knit.
Next Rnd: K2, bind off next 8 sts for thumb opening, k to end of rnd.
Next Rnd: K2, cast on 2 sts, k to end of rnd – 32 sts at the end of this rnd.
Work in St st worked in the rnd until piece measures about 2 in. (5 cm) from thumb opening. Change to smaller needles and work in K2, p2 Rib for 1 in. (2.5 cm). Bind off.

FINISHING

Following an earlier reviewer's suggestion I used smaller needles. They came out fitting very nicely. A suggestion for those with shorter arms, reduce the length.
