Easy Warmth Hat and Scarf
Lion Brand® Hometown USA®
GAUGE: 9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

HAT
Cast on 48 sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.
Rows 5-12: Beginning with a RS row, work in St st.
Rep Rows 1-12 twice more, then knit 4 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold Hat in half and seam ends to make a tube. With seam at center back, flatten tube. Sew center back to center front with 2-3 sts. Bring center of 2 open sides to center and sew a few more sts to secure all layers.
Top of Hat will be 4 open circles that meet at center top, forming a cross. Sew along each side of cross to join layers.
Weave in ends.
Tassels
For each Tassel, cut 3 strands of yarn, each 8 in. (20 cm) long. Hold strands together and fold in half. With crochet hook, draw fold through one point at top of Hat, forming a loop. Pull yarn ends through loop and tighten. Make a Tassel on remaining 3 points at top of Hat.
SCARF
Cast on 16 sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.
Rows 5-12: Beginning with a RS row, work in St st.
Rep Rows 1-12 seventeen more times, then knit 4 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Make a Tassel (as for Hat) on each corner of Scarf. Weave in ends.

| I only made the hat- but the instructions were very clear and it was easy to make. It looks really cute! I can't wait to wear it this winter!
