GAUGE: 14 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) with 1 strand each of A and C held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

COWL
With 1 strand each of A and C held tog, cast on 196 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beginning of rnd.
Rnds 1-4: Work in K2, p2 Rib.
Rnds 5 and 6: Continuing with 1 strand each of A and C held tog, work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd).
Rnds 7-12: Change to 1 strand each of B and D held tog, and work in St st.
Rnds 13-18: Change to 1 strand each of A and E held tog, and work in St st.
Rnds 19-24: Change to 1 strand each of B and F held tog and work in St st.
Rnds 25-30: Change to 1 strand each of A and C held tog, and work in St st.
Rnds 31-36: Change to 1 strand each of B and C held tog, and work in St st.
Rnds 37-42: Change to 1 strand each of A and F held tog, and work in St st.
Rnds 43-48: Change to 1 strand each of B and E held tog, and work in St st.
