GAUGE:

21 sts + 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in sc using larger hook;
10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) over Dc-Mesh pattern using larger hook.
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. Shrug is made in 2 pieces: an Upper Half and a Lower Half. Each half consists of half of each sleeve and a center section.
2. Center section of Upper Half forms the shoulders and collar. The center section of the Lower Half forms back and sides.
2. The Upper and Lower Halves are seamed along long straight edges. Side and sleeve are seamed, then cuffs are worked. The shorter straight edges of the Upper and Lower Halves form the front opening.

Glittery Shrug Reviewed by CHERYL NYE on 2014-01-05 *
I,also, needed to drop down to a size E hook in order to try to get gauge. Frustrating, as usually my work is right on with the pattern directions. I STILL had 5 inches instead of 4! I started to make size small instead of the medium I would normally do, thinking it is a shrug & sizing is not quite as critical. Halfway through the lower part I ripped it out and threw the pattern away, realizing it just wasnt going to fit right and I would probably end up giving it away. I love the look of this shrug, but not worth the waste of time trying to get it right. Kudos to those of you who somehow managed to make a great looking garment!!
