FRONT (make 1 with A and 1 with B)
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, 2 sc in last 2 sts – 12 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) twice – 18 sts.
Rnd 4: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) twice – 24 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 5: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) twice – 30 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 6: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) twice – 36 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 7: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts) twice – 42 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 8: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 6 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts) twice – 48 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 9: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 7 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts) twice – 54 sts at the end of this rnd.
Fasten off.
BACK (make 1 with A and 1 with B)
Make as for Front.
BEAK (make 1 with A and 1 with B)
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 6 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around – 8 sts at the end of this rnd. Fasten off.
WING (make 1 with A and 1 with B)
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 18 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around – 24 sts at the end of this rnd. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Fold Wing in half to form a semi-circle and sew closed. Sew contrast color Wing to each Front. With black yarn, embroider a French knot eye on each Front.
Hold matching color Front and Back with WS sides tog.
Joining Rnd: Working through both thicknesses, join matching yarn with sl st anywhere along outside edge, sc evenly spaced around to join pieces, stuffing piece with fiberfill and lavender before closing; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Flatten contrast color Beak and sew to Body.
Hanging Loop
Join contrasting or matching yarn with sl st in top of Body. Ch 15, sl st in same st as join. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
