Flower Motif
Rnd 1 and all odd rnds: Knit.
Rnd 2: K6, MB, k6.
Rnd 4: Skp, yo, k1, MB, k1, yo, sk2p, yo, k1, MB, k1, yo, k2tog.
Rnd 6: K1, skp, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k1, skp, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k1.
Rnd 8: K2, skp, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k2.
Rnd 10: K1, (skp, yo) twice, k3, (yo, k2tog) twice, k1.
Rnd 12: (Skp, yo) 3 times, k1, (yo, k2tog) 3 times.
Rnd 14: Rep Rnd 10.
Rnd 16: K2, (skp, yo) twice, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, k2.
Rnd 18: K3, skp, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k3.

RIGHT SOCK
Cuff
With smaller double-pointed needles, cast on 45 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Work Rnds 1-30 of Leaf Cuff pattern.
Next Rnd: Knit.
Next Rnd: (P7, p2tog) 5 times – 40 sts at the end of this rnd.
Change to larger double-pointed needles. Knit 4 rnds.
Next Rnd: K23, place marker (pm) for beg of Flower Motif, following written instructions or chart, work Rnd 1 of Flower Motif over next 13 sts, pm, k4.
Next Rnd: K23, slip marker (sm), work next rnd of Flower Motif over next 13 sts, k4.
Rep last rnd until Rnds 1-20 of Flower Motif have been completed. Remove markers from beg and end of Motif. Do not remove beg of rnd marker. Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures 12 in. (30.5 cm) from beg.
Shape Heel Flap
Note: The heel is now worked back and forth in rows over 20 sts centered over beg of rnd. 10 sts are worked from the first needle, then the work is turned, the same 10 sts worked again, and 10 more sts are worked from the last needle.
Row 1: K10 sts, turn; with empty needle and working back across the same 10 sts, sl 1 as if to purl, p9, remove beg of rnd marker; with the same needle, p10 sts from the next needle, turn; place rem sts on a holder for top of foot (instep) – 20 sts just worked for heel.
Row 2 (RS): *Sl 1 as if to purl, k1; rep from * across.
Row 3 (WS): Purl.
Rep last 2 rows until a total of 21 rows have been worked, end with a Row 3.
Turn Heel
Note: Heel is shaped with short rows. When working short rows, not all heel flap sts are worked on every row. Turn when instructed.
Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, k11, skp, k1, turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 3: Sl 1, k6, skp, k1, turn.
Row 4: Sl 1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 5: Sl 1, k8, skp, k1, turn.
Row 6: Sl 1, p9, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 7: Sl 1, k10, skp, turn.
Row 8: Sl 1, p10, p2tog, turn – 12 heel sts rem at the end of this row.
Shape Foot
Note: Work now proceeds in rnds. The first rnd is set up by working across the heel sts, picking up sts along the side of the heel flap, working across the instep sts from holder, picking up sts along the other side of the heel flap, and finally working to the center of the heel sts.
Setup Rnd (RS): With first needle, knit across 12 sts of heel, pick up and k12 sts along side of heel flap, M1; with second needle knit 20 sts from holder; with third needle, M1 between last st worked and heel flap, pick up and k12 sts along rem side of heel flap, k6 sts of heel – 58 sts at the end of this rnd. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Rnd 1 (Dec Rnd): K17, k2tog, pm, k20, pm, k2tog, k17 – 56 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3 (Dec Rnd): K to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, sm, k to next marker, sm, k2tog, k to end of rnd – 54 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rep last 2 rnds until 40 sts rem. Remove all markers except end of rnd marker. Work even in St st until foot measures about 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) less than desired foot length.
Shape Toe
Dec Rnd: K8, k2tog, pm, skp, k16, k2tog, pm, skp, k8.
Dec Rnd:(K to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, sm, skp) twice, k to end of rnd. Rep last rnd until 16 sts rem. Divide sts evenly onto 2 double pointed needles, ensure that toe and gusset shaping are at the ends of the needles. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
Graft Toe
Holding the 2 needles parallel with WS of work together, thread a large-eyed blunt needle with one of the yarn ends and work as follows:
Insert needle as if to purl into first stitch on front piece. Insert needle as if to knit into first stitch on back piece. Then follow steps 1-4 as outlined below.
1) insert needle as if to knit through first st on front needle and let the st drop from needle.
2) Insert needle into 2nd st on front needle as if to purl and pull the yarn through, leaving st on the needle.
3) Insert needle into first st on back needle as if to purl and let it drop from the needle, then
4) insert it as if to knit through 2nd st on back needle and pull the yarn through, leaving st on needle.
Rep 1-4 until all sts are gone. When finished, adjust tension as necessary. Weave in ends.
LEFT SOCK
Note: Left Sock is worked in the same way as Right Sock, reversing placement of Flower Motif, as follows:

Rep last rnd until all rnds of Flower Motif have been completed. Remove beg of motif marker. Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures 12 in. (30.5 cm) from beg. Complete Left Sock in same way as Right Sock, beg at Shape Heel Flap.
FINISHING
