GAUGE: 16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Pattern st. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
PATTERN STITCH
(worked in the round over an even number of sts)
Rnd 1: With B, *sl 1 wyif, k1; rep from * around.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3: With A, *k1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * around.
Rnds 4-6: Knit.
Rep Rnds 1-6 for Pattern st. |

WRISTER (make 2)
Beg at cuff, with A, cast on 26 sts. Divide sts onto 4 double pointed needles. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Rnd 1: *With A, k1, with B, p1; rep from * around.
Rep last rnd until piece measures about 3 in. (7.5 cm) from beg.
BODY
Rnd 1: With A, knit.
Rnd 2: (K6, m1) 4 times, k2 - 30 sts at end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: Knit.
Beg with Rnd 1, work in Pattern st until piece measures about 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg ending with a Row 4, 5, or 6.
Hand
Next Rnd: K4, place these 4 sts onto a holder for thumb, work in Pattern st as established to end of rnd - 26 sts at end of this rnd.
Continue in Pattern st over these 26 sts until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg.
Next Rnd: *With A, k1, with B, p1; rep from * around.
Rep last rnd until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg.
With A, bind off.
Shape Thumb
Place 4 thumb sts from holder back onto needle, pick up and knit 8 more sts along edge between thumb opening and hand. Divide these 12 sts onto double pointed needles. Place marker for beg of rnd and join.
Rnd 1: *With A, k1, with B, p1; rep from * around.
Rep last rnd until thumb measures about 1 in. (2.5 cm), from beg.
With A, bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |

| Very fun and easy pattern to make -- it was my first introduction to stranded knitting. I would have liked there to be instructions for smaller-sized hands, my hands are a little too slender for the given size.
