GAUGE: 16 sc = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | hdc2tog (hdc 2 sts together) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook - 1 st decreased |
NOTES: To change color work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.

BIB
With A, ch 17.
Row 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch - 18 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st (increase made), sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st - 20 sts at the end of this row.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep Row 2 - 24 sts at the end of Row 4.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Rows 6-9: Rep Row 5.
Change to B.
Rows 10-19: With B, rep Row 5.
Change to C.
Rows 20-24: With C, rep Row 5.
Row 25: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog over first 2 sts, hdc in each of next 6 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 6 sts, hdc2tog over last 2 sts - 22 sts remain at the end of this row.
Row 26: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 5 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 5 sts, hdc2tog - 20 sts.
Row 27: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 4 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc2tog - 18 sts.
Row 28: Ch 2, turn. Hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 3 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 3 sts, hdc2tog - 16 sts. Fasten off.
EYES (make 2)
With D, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Edging
Note: Edging is worked by changing color to match each color section on Bib.
From RS, join C with a sl st at beginning of C section on right hand side of Bib. Work sc evenly spaced around outside edge of Bib to end of C section, changing to B in last st. With B, work sc evenly spaced along B section, changing to A in last st. Continue to change color to match color sections around entire outside edge of Bib. Fasten off.
With D, embroider a straight st smile. Sew on Eyes.
Ties
From RS, join C with a sl st at one top corner of Bib. Ch 40 (or to desired length). Fasten off. Rep on opposite corner for second tie.
