GAUGE:

18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Scarf is worked entirely in St st (k on RS, p on WS), then tucks are sewn across the width of the Scarf.
2. The sts used in the Scarf are easy, however, the technique of working with this lightweight yarn may be more suited to experienced knitters.

SCARF
Cast on 32 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 92 in. (233.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off.

FINISHING
Tucks
Measure 3 in. (7.5 cm) from one end of Scarf, and place a marker on each side of Scarf. Measure 6 in. (15 cm) from last set of markers and place a 2nd pair of markers, one on each side of Scarf. Measure 4 in. (10 cm) from last set of markers and place a 3rd set of markers, one on each side of Scarf. Continue to place markers along length of Scarf every 6 in. (15 cm), then every 4 in. (10 cm) until about 3 in. (7.5 cm) of Scarf remains. Scarf length should have 9 sections, each 6 in. (15 cm) wide, with 4 in. (10 cm) between each section, and about 3 in. (7.5 cm) on each end. From RS, fold first 6 in. (15 cm) section in half across width of Scarf. With a length of yarn threaded in blunt needle, sew across width of Scarf, through both layers, across marked row (3 in. (7.5 cm) below folded edge). Draw up stitching by pulling gently on yarn in needle so that width of Scarf along sewn line measures about 4 in. (10 cm). Knot yarn. Repeat with remaining marked sections to make 9 tucks. Weave in ends.
