GAUGE:
18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:
HOW TO WORK CHARTS 1. All charts are worked in St st (k on RS, p on WS). 2. Charts are worked from right to left on RS rows and from left to right on WS rows. 3. Charts are worked in Fair Isle colorwork, with 2 colors used per row. Carry unused color across WS of work. There is no need to twist colors on WS. 4. Block 1 is worked to a specific number of rows. When completed, Block 1 should measure about 9 3/4 in. (25 cm) in length (from cast-on edge to bound-off edge). Remaining blocks are worked to this length rather than to a specific number of rows.
BLOCK 1 (make 3) With C, cast on 44 sts. Row 1 (RS): Knit, following Row 1 of Chart 1 and working 4-st rep 11 times across row. Continue in St st (k on RS, p on WS), following Chart 1 as established until Row 8 has been completed, then rep Rows 1–8 five more times. Rep Chart Rows 1-4 once more. Bind off.
BLOCK 2 (make 4) With D, cast on 44 sts. Row 1 (RS):Knit, following Row 1 of Chart 2 and working 4-st rep 11 times across row. Continue in St st, following Chart 2 as established until Row 16 has been completed, then rep Rows 1–16 until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 3 (make 3) Note: 6-st rep of Chart 3 is worked across center 42 sts of Block 3. The first and last st on every row are not shown on the chart, and should be worked in St st with E. With E, cast on 44 sts. Row 1 (RS): With E, k1, following Row 1 of Chart 3 and working 6-st rep 7 times across row, knit last st with E. Continue in St st, following Chart 3 as established and keeping first and last st in St st with E, until Chart Row 12 has been completed, then rep Rows 1–12 until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 4 (make 2) With A, cast on 42 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 5 (make 2) With B, cast on 42 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 6 (make 2) With C, cast on 42 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 7 (make 2) With D, cast on 42 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
BLOCK 8 (make 2) With E, cast on 42 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures same as Block 1. Bind off.
FINISHING Following Assembly Diagram, sew Blocks into 4 strips of 5 Blocks each. Seam strips together along long sides to make Throw. Side Borders Notes: 1. Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles. 2. The number of sts that were picked up worked well on our Throw – you may need to adjust this number slightly for your own Throw. You can determine the number of sts to pick up by working a border on a St st swatch. Divide the number of sts you picked up on the swatch by the length of the swatch to determine the number of sts you should pick up per inch (cm). From RS with circular needle and E, pick up and k196 sts evenly spaced along one long side of Throw. Work in Seed st for 1 1/2 in. (4 cm). Bind off. In same way, work border along opposite side edge of Throw. End Borders From RS with circular needle and E, pick up and k172 sts evenly spaced along one end of Throw including ends of side borders. Work in Seed st for 1 1/2 in. (4 cm). Bind off. In same way, work border along opposite end of Throw. Weave in ends.

I made this in slightly different colours and was very pleased with the result. The fairisle patterned squares were interesting to knit and the Wool Ease is so cosy. I would make this again as it is easy to follow.
