GAUGE:

22 sts + 30 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) with larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together – 1 st decreased.

NOTES:

Pullover is worked in one piece beginning at the neck, then divided for Body and Sleeves

STRIPE PATTERN: *Work 8 rnds with C, 8 rnds with A, 8 rnds with B; rep from * for Stripe pattern.

PULLOVER
Body
With smaller double pointed needles and B, cast on 50 (54, 60) sts. Divide sts onto 4 needles as follows: 19 (20, 22) sts for Front on needle #1, 6 (7, 8) sts for Sleeve on needle #2, 19 (20, 22) sts for Back on needle #3, and 6 (7, 8) sts for Sleeve on needle #4. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnd 1: Knit.
Rnd 2: Purl.
Rnds 3 and 4: Rep Rnds 1 and 2. Change to larger double pointed needles and C.
Rnd 5: Knit.
Rnd 6: Work the following on each of the 4 needles: k1, yo, knit to last st on needle, yo, k1 – 58 (62, 68) sts at the end of this rnd. Continue in Stripe pattern as established, and rep last 2 rnds until there are 170 (190, 212) sts.
Note: When sts have been sufficiently increased, change to circular needle and place markers to divide work into front, back and sleeves.
Divide for Body and Sleeves
Dividing Rnd: *Knit across 49 (54, 60) sts, sl next 36 (41, 46) sts to holder for Sleeve, cast on 6 sts for underarm; rep from * once more – 110 (120, 132) sts at the end of this rnd for Body. Work even in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) and Stripe Pattern over Body sts until piece measures about 5 (6, 6 1/2) in. (12.5 (15, 16.5) cm) from Dividing Rnd, end by completing the 8th rnd of any color in the Stripe Sequence. Change to smaller circular needle and to next color of Stripe pattern.
Next Rnd: Purl.
Next Rnd: Knit.
Next Rnd: Purl. Bind off.

Sleeves
Rnd 1: From RS, with larger double pointed needles and same color as used in Dividing Rnd of Body, pick up and k 6 sts evenly spaced across underarm of Sleeve, knit Sleeve sts from holder – 42 (47, 52) sts at the end of this rnd. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join to work in the rnd. Continue in St st and Stripe pattern as established.
Rnd 2: Ssk, k4, k2tog, knit to end – 40 (45, 50) sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: Knit.
Rnd 4: Ssk, k2, k2tog, knit to end – 38 (43, 48) sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 5: Knit.
Rnd 6: Ssk, k2tog, knit across to end – 36 (41, 46) sts at the end of this rnd. Work in St st and Stripe pattern as established until piece measures 5 (5 1/2, 5 1/2) in. (12.5 (14, 14) cm) from Dividing Rnd, end by completing 8th rnd of any color. Change to smaller double pointed needles and next color of Stripe pattern.
Next Rnd: Purl.
Next Rnd: Knit.
Next Rnd: Purl. Bind off. Work second Sleeve in same way.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
