GAUGE:

16 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Bowl is worked with a small hook to create a firmer fabric.
2. Work in continuous rnds; do not turn or join unless otherwise instructed.

CANDY BOWL
Base
With A, ch 2. 

Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker for beginning of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. 

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 10 sts. 

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 15 sts. 

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 20 sts. 

Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts; rep from * around – 25 sts. 

Rnd 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts; rep from * around – 30 sts. 

Rnd 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts; rep from * around – 35 sts. 

Rnd 8: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts; rep from * around – 40 sts. 

Rnd 9: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts; rep from * around – 45 sts. 

Rnd 10: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 8 sts; rep from * around – 50 sts. 

Rnd 11: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 9 sts; rep from * around – 55 sts. 

Rnd 12: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 10 sts; rep from * around – 60 sts. 

Rnd 13: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 11 sts; rep from * around – 65 sts. 

Rnd 14: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 12 sts; rep from * around – 70 sts. 

Rnd 15: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 13 sts; rep from * around – 75 sts. 

Rnd 16: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 14 sts; rep from * around – 80 sts. 

Rnd 17: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 15 sts; rep from * around – 85 sts. 
 Fasten off A.
Shape Side
Rnd 18: Join B with sl st in any st at edge of base, sc in each st around. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnds 19 and 20: Sc in each st around. Fasten off B.
Rnd 21: Join A with sl st in any st at edge of base, sc in each st around. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnds 22 and 23: Sc in each st around. Fasten off A. Rep Rnds 18-23 for a total of 4 times. Fasten off A.

FINISHING
Fold last 2 A and B stripes toward WS and sew in place.
GHOST (make 6)
With C, ch 2. 

Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. 

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 10 sts. 

Rnds 3-7: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 8: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 15 sts. 

Rnd 9: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 10: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 20 sts. Fasten off. With A, embroider straight st eyes.
Ghost Trim
With D, make a chain about 30 in. (76 cm) long. Fasten off. Sew chain to top edge of Bowl at 6 evenly spaced points, allowing chain to drape between sewn points. Sew Ghosts to chain. Weave in ends.

I made this without the ghosts. it makes a great breadbasket, but I would have flattened the bottom more if I had known that it wouldn't stand flat.
