GAUGE:
16 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Base With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker for beginning of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 10 sts.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 15 sts.
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 20 sts.
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts; rep from * around – 25 sts.
Rnd 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts; rep from * around – 30 sts.
Rnd 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts; rep from * around – 35 sts.

Rep Rnds 18-23 for a total of 4 times. Fasten off A.
FINISHING Fold last 2 A and B stripes toward WS and sew in place.
GHOST (make 6) With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 10 sts.
Rnds 3-7: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 8: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 15 sts.
Rnd 9: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 10: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 20 sts. Fasten off.
With A, embroider straight st eyes.
Ghost Trim With D, make a chain about 30 in. (76 cm) long. Fasten off. Sew chain to top edge of Bowl at 6 evenly spaced points, allowing chain to drape between sewn points. Sew Ghosts to chain. Weave in ends.

I made this and it turned out really cute. If I were to make it again I would stop working in the round after the base was complete. I did the first two "stripes" in the round and they looked uneven so I switched when I made the last four. The ghosts just looked like cylinders so I added a scalloped edge. I think purple and orange or black and purple would be really nice colors for this project as well.
