Spooktacular Candy Bags
Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®
GAUGE:
16 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch (k on RS, p on WS).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Carry color not in use along the side edge of work.
A and B BAG With A, cast on 36 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) for 5 rows. Knit next (WS) row for turning ridge. Continue in St st with A for 4 rows. Change to B, and work in St st for 4 rows. Continue to work in St st, working 4 rows each with A and B alternately, until 15 B stripes have been worked. Cut B. With A, work in St st for 4 rows. Purl next (RS) row for turning ridge, then work 5 rows in St st. Bind off.
C and D BAG Work as for A and B Bag, using C in place of A and D in place of B.
FINISHING For casing, fold cast-on end of Bag to WS along turning ridge. Sew cast-on edge to WS of Bag. Rep with bound-off end of Bag. Fold Bag in half and seam sides to just below casing. Knot strands together at one end. Divide strands into 3 groups of 4 strands each and braid for drawstring. Knot end. Pin a safety pin to one end of drawstring and thread through casing on both sides of Bag. Knot drawstring ends together. Weave in ends.
