GAUGE:
8 double crochet = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. Turning chains do not count as stitches.

Row 2: Chain 3, turn, double crochet in first double crochet, *double crochet in each of next 2 stitches, 2 double crochet in next stitch; repeat from * across. Row 3: Chain 3, turn, double crochet in first double crochet, *double crochet in each of next 3 stitches, 2 double crochet in next stitch; repeat from * across. Row 4: Chain 3, turn, double crochet in first double crochet, *double crochet in each of next 4 stitches, 2 double crochet in next stitch; repeat from * across.

This is truly a beautiful eye-catching scarf. It is easy to make and can be made in one afternoon and wear it the same evening. It is warm and the scarf can fit into itself which will make it warm around the neck and down your chest. Each time I make it someone wants one. I made one for my mother and she looks great.
