Sumptuous Tweed Scarf

GAUGE: 5 double crochet = about 4 in. (10 cm) with 1 strand each of A and B held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Scarf is worked with 1 strand each of A and B held together throughout.

SCARF
With 1 strand each of A and B held together, chain 9.
Row 1: Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across – 7 stitches.
Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), turn, double crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 55 in. (140 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

| This was my first project. So far I only know how to complete single, half double and double crochet stitches (thanks to my Mom) so I was looking for something simple. It was awkward at first working with two strands held together but once I got the hang of it, it went quickly. I used Dallas Grey and Green Bay. One skein of each color was just enough for me, however the green ran out just a few stiches before the grey did. It was easy and fun so I plan on making a couple more for gifts!
