GAUGE:

20 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Stitch. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Number of stitches will change from 34 stitches on Row 1 to 30 stitches on Rows 2–7 to 34 stitches on Row 8.

Cast on 34 sts. Beginning with Row 1, rep 8 rows of Lace Stitch until piece measures about 30 in. (76 cm) from beginning, end with Row 8. Bind off.
