Bluebird Beach Washcloth

GAUGE:

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - 1 st increased.

PATTERN STITCHES
Seed Stitch (worked over an even number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed st.

Granite Stitch (over 34 sts)
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: *K2tog; rep from * across.
Row 3: Kfb in each st across.
Row 4: Purl.
Rep Rows 1-4 for Granite st.

WASHCLOTH
Cast on 42 sts.
Work in Seed st for 6 rows.
Next Row: Work in Seed st as established over first 4 sts, work Row 1 of Granite st to last 4 sts, work in Seed st over last 4 sts.
Continue as established, working first and last 4 sts in Seed st and remaining sts in Granite st until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beginning.
Work in Seed st for 6 rows.
Bind off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

made this along with a few other washcloth patterns (laguna, rocky point) as gifts - quick & easy to knit and they were very happily received & used much! I did use LB organic cotton yarn, more $$, also meant I had to adjust gauge but soft & beautiful.
