STITCH EXPLANATION: | kfb Knit into front and then back of same stitch – 1 stitch increased. PATTERN STITCHES
Seed Stitch (worked over an even number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed st.
Granite Stitch (over 34 sts)
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: *K2tog; rep from * across.
Row 3: Kfb in each st across.
Row 4: Purl.
Rep Rows 1-4 for Granite st.

Cast on 42 sts.
Work in Seed st for 6 rows.
Next Row: Work in Seed st as established over first 4 sts, work Row 1 of Granite st to last 4 sts, work in Seed st over last 4 sts.
Continue as established, working first and last 4 sts in Seed st and remaining sts in Granite st until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beginning.
Work in Seed st for 6 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

| I like this pattern. It doesn't really look like the picture, but is still very elegant. Like another reviewer, I only did four rows of seed stitch on the top and bottom. This will be my new go-to pattern for washcloths.
