GAUGE:
9 tr = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
A rectangle of Mesh (open crochet) is worked first, then ruffles are worked across the rows of mesh.

With larger hook and A, ch 158. Row 1 (RS): Tr in 10th ch from hook, *ch 3, sk next 3 ch, tr in next ch; rep from * across - 38 ch-sps at the end of this row. Rows 2-4: Ch 7, turn, tr in next tr, ch 3, *sk next ch-3 sp, tr in next tr, ch 3; rep from * across, tr in 4th ch of turning ch.
Do not fasten off. First Ruffle
Row 5 (RS): Ch 4, turn, 3 tr in first ch-3 sp, *4 tr in next ch-3 sp; rep from * across to last ch-sp, 3 tr in last ch-sp, tr in 4th ch of turning ch. Row 6: Ch 4, turn, 2 tr in sp between first 2 tr, *ch 1, sk next 2 tr, 2 tr in sp between last tr skipped and next tr; rep from * across, working last 2 tr in sp between last tr and turning ch. From RS, join B with sl st in first ch-3 sp of Row 4, rep Rows 5 and 6 of First Ruffle. Fasten off. Third Ruffle

From RS, join D with sl st in first ch-3 sp of Row 2, rep Rows 5 and 6 of First Ruffle. Fasten off. Fifth Ruffle
From RS, join A with sl st in first ch-3 sp of Row 1, rep Rows 5 and 6 of First Ruffle. Fasten off.
BALL TRIM (make 10 - 4 with A, 2 with B, 2 with C, and 2 with D)
Note: Work in continuous rnds; do not join or turn.
With smaller hook, ch 3; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each ch around - 6 sts at the end of this rnd. Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each st around - 12 sts. Rnds 3 and 4: Sc in each st around.
Stuff center with a small amount of fiberfill. Rnds 5 and 6: *Sk next st, sl st in next st; rep from * around - 3 sts.
Ch 4, join with sl st to each end of matching color ruffles. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
