GAUGE:
12 sts and 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I also found the pattern, easy and finished product looks good. However, it turns out large. I used Vana's Choice, (#4) with #10 needles using the Child 3 pattern turned out to be more like a size Child 10.
The gauge of the stitches was very close to what is in the pattern and I used a less bulky yarn than what is recommended in the pattern.
I plan to try different size yarns and needles until I get what I want for my grandson.
