GAUGE:

18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Seed st. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Classic Lace Baby Throw Reviewed by Rachael Dixon on 2014-08-24 ****
I just made this blanket for a friend's baby girl and it is so elegant. However, if I ever make it again I will do as other posters have suggested and knit it in one piece. Picking up stitches (not fun) and adding the border makes it a little awkward looking. It would look much better without any breaks in the seed stitch patterned parts.
