10 sts and 13 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
AFGHAN Cast on 114 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 3: K3, (k2tog) 3 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, *(k2tog) 6 times, (yo, k1) 6 times; rep from * to last 9 sts, (k2tog) 3 times, k3.
Row 4: Knit.
Rep Rows 1-4 until piece measures about 53 in. (134.5 cm) from beginning.
Knit 4 rows. Bind off.
FINISHING Weave in ends.

I really like this pattern. It knits up very quickly, is easy enough to do in front of the tv, and looks very nice. My only complaint is that 8 balls of thick n quick is not nearly enough for an afghan. That much yarn yielded a lap blanket size (maybe). I'm on 10 balls of yarn already, and it's still not as long as the picture.
