GAUGE:
6 sts + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Moss st with 1 strand each of A and B held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This is a good, easy pattern. I will be teaching my sister to knit, and will be using this pattern to get her used to doing knit and purl stitches. I'll be doing one at the same time, so that if she runs into trouble, she can watch me work.Since it works up quickly with doubled yarn, and the colours shown are some of her favourites, I'm sure we'll have a good time making it.
