GAUGE:

18 sts + 14 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.


AFGHAN
SQUARE A (make 10)
With A, ch 37.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch, sc in each of last 2 ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each of next 2 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, sc in next ch-1 sp; rep from * to last 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg. Fasten off.

SQUARE B (make 10)
With B, ch 37.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, *ch 2, sk 2 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch; rep from * to last ch, sc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 1 turn. Sc in each of next 3 sts, *ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * to last st, sc in last st.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg. Fasten off.

SQUARE C (make 10)
With C, ch 37.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, *hdc in next ch, sl st in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch, sc in each of last 2 ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each of next 2 sts, *hdc in next st, sl st in next st; rep from * to last 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew Squares together, following Assembly Diagram for placement. Weave in ends.

I made this Afghan in Vanna's Choice yarns. It turned out wonderful! It was for my 14 year old grandson. I doubled the length because he is already 5'11''. I used Vanna's slate blue, silver blue, and brown.
Each of my grandchildren get an Afghan. It is a precious gift they will have for a long time. My mother did it for my children. They still have theirs today.
