GAUGE: 8 hdc + 5 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SHAWL
Chain 42.
Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across.
Row 2: Chain 2, turn. Half double crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until shawl measures about 67 in. (170 cm).
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

| Made with a 4-ply orlon yarn given to our knitting circle. I needed a pattern that would work up quickly for my church's Mothers Day Prayer Shawl drawing. This patter was easy and took only about 15 hrs to finish. I used a K hook to add crocheted fringe to the ends.
