GAUGE:
1 ripple = about 4 1/2 in. (11.5 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
dc2tog (dc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops. Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
COLOR SEQUENCE
Work 2 rows of each color in the following Color Sequence: A, B, A, C, D, C, E, A, E, B, D, B, A, C, A, D, E, D. Note: To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over; yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st.

With A, ch 168. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (beginning ch counts as dc), (dc2tog) 3 times, 2 dc in next 6 ch, *(dc2tog) 6 times, 2 dc in next 6 ch; rep from * across to last 8 ch, (dc2tog) 3 times, dc in last 2 ch - 9 ripples. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in next dc, (dc2tog) 3 times, 2 dc in next 6 dc, *(dc2tog) 6 times, 2 dc in next 6 dc; rep from * across to last 8 dc, (dc2tog) 3 times, dc in last 2 dc. Change to B.
Rep Row 2, continue to change colors every other row following Color Sequence, until Color Sequence has been completed twice. Fasten off.

Just finished this afghan and like the other reviewers have said, it's puffy. Everyone has complemented me on the blanket, and it is beautiful, but the puffiness makes it look like I did something wrong. As a crocheter, I know that's not the case but the puffs just look a little off for a blanket. I absolutely loved the pattern though and the blanket is gorgeous, puffs and all :)
