GAUGE:
17 sts + 27 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Tuck St. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I'm a loose knitter so I used size 8 needles - it turned out a little snug, so I might add a few stitches if I make it again. It was fun to make - I never got bored. Whoever dreamed this up is quite a designer. I didn't realize the ribbing had the slip stitch business until I was putting it together, but it still looks great.
