GAUGE:

17 sts + 27 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Tuck St. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Reviewed by Wendy Swan on 2014-02-10 ***
I am a fairly new knitter and found the pattern very confusing and 'awkward' so after the fourth time unravelling it back to the ribbing I decided to just do a sort of basket weave top and then reduced for shaping. It worked fine (even though it's far from perfect design/pattern wise) and it honestly is SUPER comfy on.
I will make another to these dimensions but with my own version of the top.
