GAUGE: 1 ripple = about 6 in. (15 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | dc3tog (dc 3 together) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops. (Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook – 2 dc decreased. |
NOTES: To change color, work last st with old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Fasten off old color.

*Work 2 rows each with A, B, A, C, D, C, B, A, B, D, C, D; rep from * for Color Sequence.

With A, ch 100.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, *dc in next 4 ch, dc3tog, dc in next 4 ch, 3 dc in next ch; rep from * 6 more times, dc in next 4 ch, dc3tog, dc in next 4 ch, 2 dc in last ch – 8 ripples.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, *dc in next 4 dc, dc3tog, dc in next 4 dc, 3 dc in next dc; rep from * 6 more times, dc in next 4 dc, dc3tog, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch. Change to B.
Rows 3-48: Rep Row 2, continuing in color sequence as established by changing color every other row. At end of Row 48, change to A.
Row 49: With A, rep Row 2. Change to B.
Row 50: With B, rep Row 2. Change to A.
Row 51: With A, rep Row 2. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I just finished making one for my mom as a mothers day present and she loves it! This was my third afghan ever and it only took me a week to make.
I love the hometown usa yarn, it's cozy and soft and makes a great heavy blanket for snuggling. I've already started making one for myself now, too!
