GAUGE:
16 stitches + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
HAT Cast on 80 stitches.
Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures about 12 in. (30.5 cm) from cast-on edge. Bind off, leaving a long tail.
FINISHING Sew side seam to form a tube, reversing seam for a 3 in. (7.5 cm) at cast-on edge for ‘cuff.’ Weave tail through stitches of bound-off edge and pull tight to gather top of Hat, knot securely.
Pompom
Follow package instructions to make a pompom. Tie pompom to top of Hat.
Weave in ends.
Just finished thish at in Vanna's Choice Eggplant and it's really cute! Perfect for my 19-year-old little sister. I might knit it in the round next time to eliminate the seaming, but overall I'm really happy with it!
