GAUGE:

10 dc + 6 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

dc2tog (dc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops. Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
dc4tog (dc triple dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops. (Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

NOTES:

1. Each Square is worked beginning at one corner and working diagonally across to the opposite corner.
2. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over; yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.

Love this pattern and cannot wait to play with more color combos. The counting of every stitch becomes a bit tedious but it works up so quickly I really didn't mind.
