GAUGE:

Rows 1–5 = about 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

V-st (Sc, ch 2, sc) worked in specified ch-2 sp or specified sc.

NOTES:

Six wedges are made separately then joined as an edging round is worked. Each wedge is joined to the previous wedge along one side by threading the chs of the current wedge through the ch-sps of the previous wedge (called a ch-join). The last wedge is joined to the previous wedge and the first wedge, in a similar manner, along both side edges.

This was very fun to make, challenging though, trying to get 6 triangles the same size (all Vanna yarn is not the same, darker colors crochet up bigger, so used a smaller hook)... I loved the end result though -- I've given it away, haven't heard from the recipient yet :)
