Learn to Crochet Cuff
Lion Brand® Recycled Cotton
GAUGE: About 18 single crochet stitches = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
|
CUFF (make 2)
Chain 24.
Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across.
Row 1: Ch 1, turn. Single crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures about 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm) from beginning.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING
Fold crochet piece in half. Thread yarn tail into blunt needle. Sew sides of Cuff together for about 2 in. (5 cm). Leave next 1 in. (2.5 cm) unsewn for thumb opening, then seam remainder of sides.
Weave yarn ends into inside (wrong side) of Cuff.

I hate having to sew the sides together at the end of this pattern. An adjustment to make if you also hate sewing is:
Use the same # of stitches, loop row 1 into a round. Work the pattern in rounds.
For thumb holes, when you get to the place where the thumb would go, chain 3, skip 5, slip stitch back in and complete the pattern.
You get a smooth, literally seamless wrist and hand warmer.
Also, if you try these and start to feel adventurous, play with adding in fancier stitches to the cuff - I used puffs and shells and my teenagers LOVED them.
