Clear plastic drinking straws, cut to 6 in. (15 cm) long
2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) strip of cardboard
4 squares of cardboard, each 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 in. (4 x 4 cm) square
Tape
Craft glue

FIREWORKS PLACECARD With 1 strand each of A, B and C held together, wrap yarn around 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) piece of cardboard 5 times. Tie loops at center with a 12 in. (30.5 cm) length of D and slip out cardboard. Thread tails of D through inside of straw, secure at open end of straw with tape.
Cut a small hole in center of base of paper cup.
Beginning at rim of cup, apply a small amount of glue over outside surface. Wrap glued area in with yarn color as desired. Allow to dry.
Continue to apply glue, then wrap with yarn until sides of cup are covered. Allow to dry.
Insert straw into hole at base of cup, then apply glue to base of cup around hole. Cover base of cup with yarn glued in a spiral, working towards straw. Allow to dry.
Write name on strip of paper and glue to outside of wrapped cup. Allow to dry.
STRIPED PLACECARD Apply glue to side of cup. Wrap glued area alternately with A and B to make stripes. Allow to dry.
In same manner, wrap cardboard square with B. Allow to dry.
Write name on paper and glue to wrapped cardboard square. Glue cardboard square to outside of wrapped cup. Allow to dry.
