Sebastian's Scarf

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

17 stitches and 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Sebastian's Scarf Reviewed by Susan Breslow on 2013-12-27 *****
What fun this scarf is for a beginner to make, and a great learning experience, too. Having a variety of stitches to try kept the project from becoming monotonous. Some of the stitches created a more narrow width than others, so it was important to learn to block after it was completed.

I found that I like knitting with #11 needles more than the smaller #9 ones specified. Nonetheless, it came out fine, perhaps a little bulkier than in the photo. Will knit this scarf again (and I'll be even better at it the next time)!
