GAUGE:

19 stitches = 4 in. [10 cm]. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

WRAP
Cast on 49 stitches.
Row 1: Knit 1,*purl 1, knit 1; repeat from * across row.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 38 in. (96.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off.

FINISHING
Sew cast-on and bound-off edges together. Weave in ends.

Flirty Wrap Reviewed by KIBLER SHARA on 2010-03-25 *****
Great first project. It really helped me understand the workings of the knit and purl stitches. Next time I will cast on a few more stitches because I'm a bit more busty than the model in the pic. I don't have any pics of this- my first project because my aunt took it....so I'll have to assume that it turned out nicely :)
