GAUGE:

16 sc = 4 in. (10 cm) with A. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

hdc2tog (hdc decrease) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook.

BIB
With A, ch 17.
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch – 18 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook (increase made), sc in each sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc – 20 sts at end of row.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep Row 2 – 24 sts at end of Row 4.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Rows 6-20: Rep Row 5.
Row 21: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 6 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 6 sts, hdc2tog – 22 sts remaining at end of row.
Row 22: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 5 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 5 sts, hdc2tog – 20 sts.
Row 23: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 4 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 4 sts, hdc2tog – 18 sts.
Row 24: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc in each of next 3 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, hdc in each of next 3 sts, hdc2tog – 16 sts.
Work 1 rnd sc evenly spaced around entire outside edge of Bib. Fasten off.

NOSE (make 1)
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Work in continuous rnds, do not join or turn.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sts at end of rnd.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 18 sts at end of rnd. Fasten off.

EARS (make 2)
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Work in continuous rnds, do not join or turn.
Rnd 2: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 6 sts at end of rnd.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around – 8 sts.
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around – 10 sts.
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around – 12 sts.
Rnd 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around – 14 sts. Fasten off.

EYES (make 2)
With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Fasten off.

TIES (make 2)
From right side, join A with slip st at one upper corner of Bib. Ch 40. Fasten off. Rep on opposite corner.

FINISHING
With A, embroider straight st nostrils onto nose. Sew Nose, Eyes, and Ears to Bib. Weave in ends.

This little oinker turns out really cute. When I make the ties, I chain 41, then slip stitch back to the body of the bib. It make a little stronger tie.
